What is the accredited Yoga program?

It is a comprehensive training program that aims to develop the core knowledge and skills needed to deliver yoga classes in an organized and professional way.

You’ll start by learning the roots, philosophy and different styles of yoga, then move on to understanding the body and movement through anatomy, life sciences and biomechanics. After that, you’ll learn how to guide trainees, modify poses, use breathing and relaxation techniques, and design and manage classes with safety in mind.

In this way, the program combines an understanding of yoga, an understanding of movement, and the skills to teach it.

Program Accreditation

The program is accredited according to its approved information from the Ministry of Sport and the Leaders Development Institute. The professional yoga instructor license is obtained from the Ministry of Sport.

Who is the Yoga program for?

The program is suitable for women of all levels, and it may be right for you if you:

  • Are interested in yoga and want to study it in more depth
  • Practice yoga and want to develop your teaching skills
  • Want to enter the field of yoga instruction
  • Work in fitness and want to add yoga to your skills
  • Are interested in kinesiology and anatomy and how they relate to yoga practice
  • Want to learn how to design and lead group yoga classes

Previous yoga experience may help you benefit from the practical side, but the program is suitable for all levels.

Yoga Program Modules

01 Understanding Yoga from Its Roots to Its Application ▾
Before teaching yoga, it’s important to understand its background and principles. In this module you’ll learn about:
  • The roots of yoga and its development through history
  • Yoga philosophy and the principles of Ashtanga linked to the teachings of Patanjali
  • The different styles of yoga
  • The physical and mental aspects of practice
02 Understanding the Body and Movement During Yoga Practice ▾
The program covers the fundamentals of the skeletal and muscular systems and joint movement, along with:
  • Movement-related anatomy and biomechanics
  • Muscular balance
  • The cardiovascular and respiratory systems
  • The nervous and endocrine systems
This helps you understand what happens in the body while performing poses, and how changing a position or the way a movement is performed can affect performance.
03 Verbal and Physical Cueing ▾
You’ll practice explaining poses clearly, giving verbal and physical cues during class, observing each trainee’s performance and offering modifications that adapt the pose to her abilities, as well as using breathing and relaxation within the class. The goal isn’t just to know the pose, but to know how to explain it and guide the trainee while she performs it.
04 Modifying Yoga Poses ▾
Not all trainees have the same level of flexibility, mobility or experience. This module covers the principles of modifying poses to suit different physical abilities, with a focus on safe cueing and attention to each trainee’s needs during class, based on an understanding of how the body works so you can make more informed training decisions.
05 Breathing and Relaxation ▾
Breathing is a core part of yoga practice and helps set the rhythm of the class. The program covers:
  • Deep breathing techniques and breath control during practice
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Pranayama and its core principles
06 Designing a Complete Yoga Class ▾
You’ll learn the principles of designing balanced yoga classes, choosing content that fits the class goal, sequencing poses, managing group classes, attending to participants’ needs and creating an organized, safe training environment. These skills help you move from practicing yoga to teaching yoga and leading classes.

What skills will you develop as a yoga instructor?

Throughout the program, your skills go beyond the physical side of yoga — you’ll develop a range of skills related to training and teaching, including:

  • Understanding the fundamentals and philosophy of yoga
  • Understanding the anatomy and movement related to the poses
  • Applying biomechanics principles to understand movement
  • Explaining poses clearly
  • Using verbal and physical cueing
  • Modifying poses for different physical abilities
  • Using breathing and relaxation techniques
  • Designing and organizing yoga classes
  • Managing groups
  • Applying safety principles and risk assessment
  • Dealing professionally with different health conditions within the instructor’s role

Safety is a core part of yoga instruction

The instructor is responsible for creating a suitable training environment, so yoga skills are inseparable from safety principles. The program covers risk assessment in the training environment, attention to participants’ different abilities, and dealing professionally with different health conditions.

Understanding anatomy and movement also helps you appreciate the importance of modification and progression, and of not treating all trainees the same way. However, the role of a yoga instructor remains different from that of a doctor or physiotherapist, and cases that require medical assessment or intervention need the appropriate specialist.

Practical Training and Final Assessment

Theory alone isn’t enough to develop the skill of teaching yoga. That’s why the program includes a practical component that helps you actually practice teaching skills. The assessment stage includes:

  • Applied training sessions
  • Practice Teaching
  • Applying cueing skills
  • Practice teaching
  • Final practical assessment
  • Final theoretical assessment

Important Questions Before Registering

What’s the difference between practicing yoga and teaching yoga?

Practicing yoga focuses on your personal experience — performing poses, controlling your breath, movement and relaxation. Teaching yoga requires additional skills, such as explaining poses, guiding trainees, observing movement, modifying exercises, organizing the class and ensuring safety.

That’s why studying yoga instruction isn’t limited to learning poses; it also includes understanding the body, movement and how to teach others.

What comes after the Yoga program?

After building your foundation in yoga instruction, you can continue developing your skills in related fitness and movement fields, depending on your career goals and interests. For example, you may want to expand into Pilates or personal training, or study topics related to kinesiology and movement analysis.

Having more than one specialty doesn’t mean every instructor needs to study every field, but understanding how they relate can help you choose the path that best fits your goals.
