About the Personal Trainer Program

Personal training isn’t just about knowing exercises and how to perform them. A professional trainer needs to understand the human body — how it moves, how it responds to training, and how to assess a client’s level, set their goals and build a suitable, safe program for them. This is exactly what the Personal Trainer program at Maalem Fitness Training Institute focuses on.

The program consists of 450 training hours, combining 300 hours of online theoretical study and 150 hours of in-person practical training, so you learn the scientific basis of training and apply it in practice.

The program is taught in Arabic, with scientific and sports terminology in English where needed, so you become familiar with the terms used in the fitness and training field.

  • 450 training hours
  • 300 hours of online theoretical study
  • 150 hours of in-person practical training
  • Taught in Arabic, with scientific terminology in English
  • The program is open to men and women, with separate training sessions
  • Certificate accredited by the Leaders Development Institute at the Ministry of Sport
  • Combines scientific knowledge with practical application

Accreditation and Certificate

The Personal Trainer program awards you a certificate accredited by the Leaders Development Institute at the Saudi Ministry of Sport upon completing the program’s training requirements. The program is part of a professional qualification pathway for those who want to develop their skills in personal training and fitness.

If your goal is to obtain a professional license, it’s important to know that the training certificate and the professional license are two separate processes, and that the license is subject to the requirements and procedures of the competent authority.

How do you get the professional license after the program?

Many trainees ask us: once I finish the program, am I licensed? The certificate and the license are two separate steps, and the certificate comes first.

The institute issues the certificate after you complete the theory and practical parts and pass the assessments. The professional license is issued by the Ministry of Sport, and you need to pass an exam for it through Qiyas.

  1. Complete the program: 300 hours of online theory and 150 hours of in-person practical training.
  2. Receive your certificate with your own unique number. Any gym or employer can verify it on our website.
  3. Register for the license exam through Qiyas and pass it.
  4. Complete the license issuance procedures according to the Ministry of Sport's requirements.

During the program you study anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, client assessment and program design, so you go into the exam with a clear scientific foundation.

Requirements and fees are set by the competent authority and may change, so confirm them when you apply. If you get stuck at any step, message us on WhatsApp and we'll guide you.

Online personal trainer course: what do you study remotely and what is in person?

If you're looking for an online personal trainer course, you can study most of our program from wherever you are. All 300 theory hours are online on the institute's platform, accessible from your phone or laptop at your own pace.

The 150 practical hours are in person, because things like correcting exercise form, reading a client's movement and managing a session can't be learned from a screen. You need a trainer in front of you who watches you as you practice under supervision.

  • Online: Anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, nutrition, client assessment and program design, taught in Arabic with English terminology.
  • In person: Practical training in most cities of the Kingdom, including Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Taif, Jazan, Jubail and Tabuk.
  • Certificate: The same certificate accredited by the Leaders Development Institute at the Ministry of Sport. There is no difference between studying the theory from another city or from Jeddah.

This means you can start studying while you work or study, and attend practical training in the city nearest to you. If your city isn't on the list, message us on WhatsApp and we'll find you the nearest option.

Personal trainer course in Jeddah: practical training in Jeddah and other cities

Maalem Fitness Training Institute is based in Jeddah. If you're looking for a personal trainer course in Jeddah, you can study the 300 theory hours online and attend the 150 practical hours in Jeddah.

If you're in another city, it's the same program and the same certificate, and practical training is available in most cities of the Kingdom, including Makkah, Madinah, Taif, Jazan, Jubail and Tabuk. Practical training is separate for men and women.
